Marketing Assistant/Receptionist

Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Dependant on experience

The Mewes Veterinary Clinic Ltd is an independently owned vets, treating small animals, based in central Haywards Heath. We focus on individual attention to our clients (the pet owners) and their pets and we were awarded a Customer Service Award in the JSPC Business Matters Awards 2014, and were Runners Up in 2017. We enjoy a friendly, caring environment providing very high standards of care within the clients’ budget, and have cared for over 10,000 pet owners in the 22 years we have been in Haywards Heath.

The role is to develop and maintain sales growth of new and repeat business from existing and new customers. We achieve this by managing our communication with existing and potential clients and running events to engage with potential clients and create new leads.

Working closely with our Principal Veterinary Surgeon and Director, Julia Mewes, you will:

  • use your personality and social media tools to build and maintain excellent customer relationships that extend for many years.

You will need to be fully computer literate and have some creative flair. Whereas Dr Mewes can produce the words, your role will include making communications attractive. 

Extensive training on our practice management system and Veterinary Reception work will be provided. Experience with updating websites, use of Mailchimp, Facebook and Twitter is highly desirable.

1/3 of the candidate’s time will be spent working on reception where you will mainly be taking phone calls, dealing with clients face to face, handling enquiries, making appointments and taking payments.

Examples of marketing responsibilities:

  • Developing new ideas and making suggestions on how to attract new clients and grow the business.
  • Preparing for and marketing our events to generate fresh leads both online and in the community.
  • Maintaining an oversight on our social media, covering Twitter and Facebook.
  • Collecting email addresses from prospects with permission and  interacting with them at regular intervals.
  • Co-ordinating and potentially writing our Press Releases.
  • Designing our posters, leaflets, flyers and handouts.
