Did you know that I have been running The Mewes Vets as an independent veterinary clinic for over twenty-five years?
We have won accolades for our customer service multiple times, including being recognised
in the Top 25 of all vets nationally in the BestVetsUK awards in 2019 and 2020.
This was then topped by being crowned BestVetsUK best in West Sussex in 2021, despite the pandemic.
We do not answer to anonymous shareholders, an aloof headquarters or their financial targets.
But now, I do personally need a new challenge, and so I have been looking for a potential second site for the Mewes Vets.
I will employ more professionals who prefer to work for a person like me, not be a number in a giant organisation.
I want my colleagues to be permitted to practise veterinary medicine purely for the sake of the animals.
And I noticed that the village of Rottingdean had lost its vet.
There has been a vet practice in Rottingdean since 1974. But the pandemic has been very hard on all veterinary practitioners, and this little clinic closed down, forcing the clients to
travel outside the village to find veterinary care.
So I have decided that the pet owners of Rottingdean need The Mewes Vets.
We are going to re-open it with a whole new team of remarkable people, who are committed to the Mewes concepts of customer and patient care, and ‘Treating Pets as Friends’.
This does mean that I am going to be personally less visible in Haywards Heath for a while, for which I apologise.
However, I am leaving you in extremely safe hands. Our current team consisting of Ali, Nick, Alice and Mialee are being joined by Sarah Reed
MRCVS, a vet of fifteen years’ experience.
And they will be ably supported by our eight registered veterinary nurses, and two final year student nurses.
I will still be managing the team, and in and out of the clinic doing all the admin, and I know
that all the special pets who have been entrusted into my care over these two and a half
decades will still be extremely well cared for, in the usual multi award-winning Mewes manner.
