Calendar Competition Launch
Most years the Mewes Vets team are frequently out in the community at events raising awareness about responsible pet ownership.
But COVID19 has put a stop to almost all of that.
There is just one event we can hold with a clear conscience and social safety: our 2021 calendar pet portrait competition.
We are excited to announce the launch this week for entries. The prize is inclusion in our beautiful 2021 calendar, with yummy rewards for the best thirteen - one for each month of the year, plus an overall winner.
The calendars will be sold, with all proceeds going to Pets As Therapy.
“Pets As Therapy is a humanitarian charity with people at our heart. What we do is beautiful in its simplicity; our inspiring and dedicated volunteers share their time and their wonderful pets with people in need.”
My darling terrier Bella and I were a PAT team, visiting a local nursing home once a week. I found it very rewarding to see residents’ faces light up when she arrived. It was clear that she was the attraction, not me. Her presence opened up conversation about pets in a way that might not happen if I had simply visited alone.
Visits are not possible at this time. They must be missed from their regular visits to residential homes, hospitals, hospices, and prisons. Hopefully it won’t be long before all PAT teams can get back to bringing love and comfort to those who are lonely or sad.
Others will soon be listening to children reading in schools again.
Each potential PAT team, whether dog, cat or rabbit is carefully assessed before being awarded their official yellow PAT ID. At The Mewes Vets we are keen to support their work by selling as many calendars as possible.
This is where you come in.
Please enter our pet portrait competition. Send us your beautiful shots, your funny shots and your action shots. There is no fee to enter. The better the quality, the more likely you are to win the accolade of being our 2021 cover star, like Nala.
Entries must be received by *16th October (*please note this is earlier than usual). Email your entry to Helen at email@example.com with the title 2021 Calendar and good luck!
