You are invited to our Christmas Party

xmas18 13

All pet lovers are welcome to attend our free Christmas party on Saturday 7th December at 11am to 12 noon, at the Mewes Vets.

It’s an opportunity to support the work of our chosen charity, and to discover who will be the pet supermodel of 2020.

Our 2020 calendars will be hot off the press, ready to be sold at £8 per calendar in aid of the British Chihuahua Club Rescue Association. Each one will be lavishly decorated with as many photo entries from our pet supermodel competition as we can squeeze in. We would like to sell as many as possible, as all the funds will go to the charity.

When I first met a representative of this charity many years ago, I was impressed with his attitude towards the dogs in his care, and this sense of respect has only grown. Whilst simultaneously showing his own dogs in the UK and abroad, he selects only his very sweetest natured individuals to breed from. He handles his puppies in such a gentle and careful way that they return his trust with tenderness and good manners.

Sadly not all the rescue chihuahuas that come into his care are quite so perfect. But each one receives his voluntary loving attention in his extensive kennel. Many require veterinary care. This is where we come in, of course, neutering and in many cases resolving any dental or other medical issues before he will even consider allowing them to look for forever homes.

I have learnt so much about being philosophical in the face of adversity, and the benefits of slow and gentle pet handling from this lovely individual. Despite being a world class show judge, he is happy to sit up all night with a sick rescue dog, or travel across the country to see to the welfare of an abandoned dog.

With the sale of our calendars, we hope to boost the coffers of his charity, in admiration for all his work. We hope you can join us on the 7th for a lovely warm cup of mulled wine and a mince pie, and to hear the Mayor of Haywards Heath announce the winners. Be our guest!
