Are you wondering what to do this weekend?

As a local Vet, I love getting out to meet other pet lovers in my spare time, and this weekend I have two events to enjoy. Perhaps you could join us?

On Saturday, The Mewes Vets team are running the fun Dog Show at the Bolnore Village Summer Fete. This will be our second year in charge, and we are hoping to attract lots of doggy entries for the fun classes. It is a great social occasion, for families and for their pets too!

It’s being held at the Tim Farmer Recreation Ground, and promises to be a great day out.

There will be lots of lovely doggy prizes, rosettes, treats and love for every dog. There will also be all the other attractions of the Fete to enjoy too. Classes will be just £2 per class. Come along with your best friend and all the family from midday: you might end up as Best in Show!

If felines are more your thing and you would love to support a cat charity, you could join us the following day at the Cats Protection National Cat Adoption Centre at Chelwood Gate. From 10am they will be holding their wonderful Summer Fun Day.

I have been every year for several years now, and it never disappoints. I love the live music, they have great stands, and of course there is the chance to say hello to all the beautiful puddies who are looking for a forever home. They will be doing the tractor rides again, and the wonderful dancing display, which always draws a crowd. Last year I was even persuaded to take a turn in the stocks (picture!) to help raise more funds.

What seems like a really good idea to me is that there is no entry charge. They just request that you bring a bag or some cans of cat food. I can guarantee you will really enjoy it. For more information about both events, go to themewesvets.co.uk/events.

Hoping to see you there!
