Join us at our Christmas party and support abandoned and homeless cats this winter

My whole team are lovely, and Trainee Veterinary Nurse Lisa is no exception.

She has been volunteering on a weekly basis with local charity Paws and Claws for years. It was partly this experience with animals that got her the job with us, and the opportunity to follow her dream and train as a Veterinary Nurse.

So when we were discussing which charity to support in 2017 and she put forward their name, it was a done deal.

The Paws and Claws Animal Rescue Service is a small cat rescue service which was founded back in 1977 and is based right here in Mid Sussex. They are devoted to rescuing and re-homing lost and abandoned cats. They encourage neutering to reduce the numbers of unwanted cats, and they provide a sanctuary for old and difficult to home cats, where no cat is ever euthanized except on veterinary advice.

All their staff are volunteers, and they are always in need of extra money and sponsors for their lovely felines.

As a first step to raising some extra funds for this special charity, the teams at the Mewes Vets and Blue Pixel Design have been creating a 2017 calendar from all the wonderful winners of our Pet Supermodel competition. Our kind judges, Haywards Heath Town Mayor Councillor Sujan Wickremaratchi and Paul Renaut, Graphic Designer for Blue Pixel Design Ltd, have whittled down over 150 entries to find the very best photos for this year.

We will be announcing those winners at our Christmas Party, to which you are invited! It is on Saturday 10th December at 11.30am at the Mewes Vets Clinic.

We will be serving free mince pies, mulled wine or hot chocolate. We would love you to come in fancy dress, and will be awarding prizes for the best costumes for both pets and families, as well as for the 12 winners of the Supermodel competition. Representatives from Paws and Claws will be there to talk about their work, and the new calendars will be on sale, with 100% of the money spent on each calendar going

direct to Paws and Claws.

So, if you can spare half an hour, why not come along and join us – you might win a home-made ginger bread house to help with your Christmas preparations, and you will certainly be helping some lovely cats who really need your support at this time of year.
