Our Life Begins @ 7 Club is a regular 6 monthly screening program for well
pets aged 7 and over. At vaccination, and six months later, our team will screen your pet for the common diseases of ageing.
Hopefully, your pet will stay fit and healthy for years to come, however if we detect a problem, your vet will have treatment available to manage the disease and prolong your pet’s happy, healthy life.
The healthcare your pet receives throughout their lifetime can help minimise the risk of disease as they age. Good healthcare incorporates preventative healthcare, such as exercise, dental care, regular check-ups and eating a balanced diet.
Timing is crucial
The symptoms of age related diseases can come on slowly and are easily missed. This can unfortunately
result in treatment being sought too late.
Modern medicine and techniques can often manage age-related illnesses and
ensure your pet has a longer, healthier and happier life.
Changes happen as pets age, similar to the changes seen as people age. However, people often miss potentially serious signs of illness in their pets by writing off symptoms, such as: weight loss, loss of appetite, foul breath, lethargy, drinking and/or urinating more than usual, as “just old age”.
What tests are carried out?
During your cat’s screening appointment, you'll complete a healthcheck questionnaire and a nurse will check your pet's weight and blood pressure. Your cat will stay with us for the day so all the tests can be carried out with as little stress to your feline friend as possible. We offer additional tests to suit you and your pet's needs, which you can see below.
