Pet Travel and Christmas Party

Planning to travel abroad with your pet next spring?

If you must travel around the end of March 2019, please be aware of the effect that Brexit may have on your PETS’ passport.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons are keeping me informed about how the Brexit negotiations might affect the previously simple travel arrangements for pets to move in and out of the EU.

At the time of writing, whilst there is still a risk of a ‘no deal’ Brexit, we do have a plan for those who absolutely must travel soon after March 29th 2019. You should contact your veterinary surgeon right away, as the contingency planning required to cover all scenarios will take four months to complete.

If you have a choice, it is probably worth planning not to travel with your pet outside the UK this spring.

The main priority is: do not assume that your PETS’ passport will be valid, whatever happens. This is highly unlikely to be the case.

Everyone welcome to The Mewes’ Christmas Party

The results of our calendar competition have been judged by Haywards Heath Mayor, Councillor James Knight. We are pleased to invite you and your family to join us this Saturday December 1st at 11am to hear the results and help us to raise lots of funds for the wonderful Cinnamon Trust. We welcome both clients and non clients to join us at The Mewes Vets at 4 Haywards Road.

The Mewes will be offering a free cup of mulled wine or hot chocolate to wash down a lovely mince pie for all our guests. Deputy Mayor, Councillor Alastair McPherson, will be presenting prizes to the twelve monthly winners who will grace our 2019 calendar, and a top prize to the overall cover girl or boy. Then our beautiful calendars will go on sale for £8.00 each, with all money raised going straight to the Cinnamon Trust, thanks to our wonderful sponsors Blue Pixel Designs, Virbac, and Royal Canin.

The Cinnamon Trust do wonderful work to help maintain the important bond between older folk and their pets, who are sometimes their most important or only companions. Join the fun, and support this very worthy cause.
