Come to our Christmas Party on December 2nd and raise funds for charity

In the run up to Christmas in my first term at Cambridge, I was invited to a port and Stilton party.

I did think twice about going. I knew I couldn’t look at a piece of blue cheese, let alone eat it, and I had a feeling that I wouldn’t fancy the port either.

But I wasn’t one to turn down an invitation, so I decided to pop along anyway, even if it meant starving.

The party was in a room in the beautiful New Court of Trinity College, now nearly 200 years old. I remember being dreadfully jealous of the First Year who had swung a room in College so superior to my rather dull modern pad.

On arrival, I avoided the food and wine, but I was teased until I tried one bite of stilton. To my surprise I thought it was delicious, so then was persuaded to try the port as well. I found the combination irresistible!

A party of our own

This Saturday I will be the host of our own Christmas party. No port or stilton, but there will be mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies for you to enjoy.

All clients and non-clients are welcome to this free event.

We will be raising funds for Smokey Paws Ltd. This not for profit organisation is providing specialist oxygen masks for pets to the Fire Service, allowing them to save more pets caught up in house fires, which I think is a brilliant plan!

Our 2018 calendar

We’ll be launching our 2018 calendar to be sold in aid of Smokey Paws, featuring photos sent in by my readers.

The overall winner will receive £100 in their pet’s choice of food, and be crowned Mr or Miss Front Page. There are also 11 other prizes for monthly top shots.

Haywards Heath’s Town Mayor, Councillor James Knight, will be awarding the prizes, and judging the winner of the fancy dress competition.

Special guests will also include members of the West Sussex Fire Service, and a representative from Smokey Paws.

So do come along and join the fun on Saturday 2nd December at 10am at The Mewes Vets.
